Hello,

Does anyone have a S100 extender board that they'd be willing to let go of for a reasonable price? I'm in need of a second one for some debugging I'm working on.

Thanks!

Do you have anymore? I can't check the inventory page right now because
anonymous access to n8vem-sbc.pbworks.com is not currently configured to
allow it.

This weekend I was working on a SSM IO4.
<http://www.theretrowagon.com/ssm-io4-as-mits-88-2sio/>caps were shorting
with loud BANGs and smoke. It took out the ground and -16vdc traces on an
old fuse-less extender. My old faithful Bob Mullen already had a bad edge
connector near the +/- 16vdc rails. I'd like an extender with
re-settable fuses and power indicators that show status of power at the
edge connector.

What's the current status of the Extender? I seem to remember some
discussion about the fuses being mis configured, only protecting the LEDs?

Do you have any edge connectors on hand?

What I'm hoping in an extender is

Todd Goodman (tsg <at> bonedaddy.net) has them, according to the inventory
he still has 44. If he's out I probably have one I could spare.

The fuse issue was on the last revision of the 8 slot backplane. The N8VEM
extension is fused correctly.

Yes, I still have lots of extender boards. I also have S-100
connectors (you'll have to decide for yourself if the leads are long
enough for the top connector, though some people certainly use them
for that purpose.)

Question about the capacitors for the 7805 on the S-100 extender board.

Might I substitute a couple 1uF Electrolytic capacitors for C1 and C3 as I
have them available on-hand to me in my shop.
I see the values 0.33uF and 0.1uF called for on the extender board
schematic, just as a typical circuit in the 7805 datasheet indicates. I see
such a wide variety of values in schematics out in the DIY world.

Must they be polarized? I've got some 50v ceramics on-hand of those values.

Any of those values are fine Jeff for these low ampage applications. If you are going to be doing and serious S100 board construction etc., you should stock up on basic components getting them in the 10’s or 100’s. IC sockets, 0.1uF caps, 1K, 4.7K, 470 resistors and 6 & 10 pin arrays to name just a few.

They are not expensive and much cheaper in bulk

John

Yup. My Velleman and Joe knows electronics capacitor collections failed me
this time. As did a few other bins ... :-) Note the long cardboard box on
the table. Full of Digi-Key parts for 3 of the IDE V3 board plus spares.
Jameco to follow on Saturday. Love that Digi-Key turnaround of about two
days for me. Usually 4 - 6 for Jameco. Those bins with the white lids are
from HomeDepot originally for shoes $1.24 each http://rodaw.me/1LRJ7xs

I completed and tested two.

John if you like I began a BOM. Made it easier for me to gather the parts
pre construction. Also I made a detail of the edge connector fingers to the
PCB solder pads pre soldering. Do you have a source repository for the
extender? I could branch it and send a pull request. I'll add more detail
to the BOM if you like I could add the Digi-Key part numbers that you have
in the article detail. Don't know where and what size Google puts this
image. Let me know if you want the original 4020x628

Thanks for publishing the extender.
